Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a general highway maintenance worker responsible for operating medium equipment, sign maintenance, pavement markings, and traffic control per SC MUTCD standards. You will perform inspections, use power tools, and support winter maintenance with snow plow and salt spreader.

This role requires at least six months of related work experience or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and within six months to obtain a Class A CDL.

Qualifications

• Six months related work experience or equivalent.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license required.
• Must obtain Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Perform general highway maintenance tasks and operate medium equipment.
• Install and replace signs and pavement markings to ensure traffic safety.
• Set up traffic control per SC MUTCD standards and inspect equipment prior to use.
• Use hand tools and power tools as part of daily maintenance operations.
• Assist in winter operations with snow plow and salt spreader.
