Job summary

Arkansas Department of Transportation is seeking a Maintenance Aide I to operate a single-axle dump truck or tractor with mowing attachments and perform diverse road maintenance tasks. The role requires ability to read and communicate in English, and experience with heavy equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities include landscape work, loading materials, flagging traffic, and assisting with signs and cones in work zones.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public and understand traffic signs.
• Experience operating a truck, tractor or heavy equipment preferred.
• Basic math and computer skills are needed to perform reports and logs.

Responsibilities

• Operate a single-axle dump truck and/or tractor with mowing attachments.
• Perform road maintenance and landscape tasks with power tools and hand tools.
• Load, unload, and stack materials such as salt, sand, cement, and chemicals as needed.
• Flag traffic and assist in setting up signs and cones for work zones.
• Respond to emergencies and work in varied weather conditions.
