VDOT in Virginia is seeking a versatile Maintenance Technician to perform equipment operations, preventive maintenance and manual labor in roadway maintenance. You will respond to emergency roadway operations as an essential employee and help keep roads safe during snow, storms, and incidents.

You will operate light to heavy highway equipment, follow MUTCD guidance for detours and work zones, and uphold safety regulations. A valid CDL within 11 months and the ability to read plans are required.

Qualifications

• Effective oral and written communication.
• Ability to obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
• Ability to read and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of highway maintenance equipment, materials, methods, and procedures.
• Safety shoes required.
• Skill in the operation and maintenance of hand and power tools.
• Skill in operating light to heavy duty equipment used for highway maintenance and repair.

Responsabilités

• Operate and maintain light to heavy highway equipment and vehicles.
• Perform emergency roadway operations during snow, ice and incidents.
• Provide traffic control and detour management using MUTCD.
• Ensure work site protection and safety compliance; follow OSHA/VOSHA rules.
• Maintain inventory records and assist in maintenance tasks.
• Complete pre-trip inspections and preventive maintenance.
