Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks personnel for Sumter Maintenance to operate small equipment and haul materials for roadway repair. You will assist with traffic control and perform manual labor in drainage and patching tasks.

A valid driver's license is required on entry, and a Class A CDL must be obtained within six months. Lifting up to 50 lbs and exposure to outdoor conditions are part of the job.

Qualifications

• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry.
• Must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months.
• Ability to perform manual labor and operate equipment as described.

Responsibilities

• Operate small equipment on the work request crew for roadway repair.
• Haul materials such as asphalt, soil, pipe, debris and other construction materials.
• Assist with traffic control and flagging in work zones for safety.
• Operate and maintain standard maintenance equipment and power tools.
