Job summary

St. Louis County Government Department of Transportation and Public Works is seeking Maintenance Driver II candidates to operate heavy equipment and perform skilled roadway maintenance. Most shifts are 7:00 a.m.

to 3:30 p.m., with snow shifts earning a $6 per hour increase and potential 12-hour commitments during winter. Two years of related maintenance experience and a valid Class A CDL with endorsements are required; a Class B CDL is acceptable with the Class A required within six months.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in general maintenance or related work.
• Valid Class A CDL with appropriate endorsements required.
• A Class B CDL will be considered; however, a Class A CDL will be required within the first 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment, vehicles and machinery requiring a Commercial Driver's License in maintenance activities.
• Perform general roadway or grounds maintenance and sign manufacturing, installation and service on a specialized crew.
• Repair and replace asphalt roadways and surfaces.
• Maintain, repair or install concrete structures or surfaces.
• Perform snow removal.
• Care for and clean designated indoor and outdoor areas.
• Provide care and propagation for trees, shrubs, turf and plants.
• Some positions lead lower level workers operating heavy equipment.
• Perform administrative tasks associated with work completion.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
