Job summary

The Arkansas Department of Transportation District 1 Sealing Crew in Wynne, AR seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to support highway maintenance and construction. This position loads and transfers materials, clears rights-of-way, and assists with roadways and slope maintenance.

Responsibilities include operating dump trucks, mowing, ditch work, flagging traffic, snow and ice operations, and on-call emergencies. A valid CDL is preferred; pesticide/herbicide certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently.
• Tractor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.

Responsibilities

• Transport and drive heavy equipment to job sites and maneuver safely.
• Operate heavy equipment for mowing, culvert installation, excavation, and ditch work.
• Operate dump trucks hauling highway construction or maintenance materials.
• Use power tools and hand tools for highway repairs.
• Mow shoulders and embankments; control grass and weeds with machinery.
• Flag traffic and perform clean-up duties.
• Load, unload and stack bags of salt, sand, cement, and chemicals.
• Respond to call-outs for emergencies 24/7.
• Support ice and snow removal operations.
