Job summary

The Oregon Department of Transportation is seeking a Highway Maintenance Specialist in Roseburg, Oregon. You will operate heavy and light equipment to maintain roadways, bridges, and related structures, and assist with weather-related emergencies and snow removal.

Responsibilities include pothole patching, drainage work, mowing, vegetation control, and maintenance of fences, guardrails, and milepost markers.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work; OR two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair roadways, bridges and structures.
• Assist with weather-related emergencies and operate snowplows, deicer trucks and other equipment to clear snow from roadways.
• Patch potholes and repair concrete; maintain drainage, fences, guardrails, and milepost markers.
• Mow grass, trim vegetation, and maintain roadside areas; perform light maintenance and landscaping tasks.
