Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a field inspector to assist with weekly and final inspections of encroachment permits, maintenance contracts, and compliance with EDM 8 and 42 guidelines. You will perform daytime route inspections and evaluate road features, collaborating with supervisors to ensure accurate reporting.

The role involves reviewing contractor work such as mowing and street sweeping, maintaining HMMS daily diaries, and ensuring proper processing of damage

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of related experience.
• Ability to perform inspections, document findings and report to supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Assist with weekly progress and final inspections of permits, contracts, and goals for compliance with SCDOT guidelines.
• Perform daytime inspections of primary and secondary routes, including road features such as shoulder, markings, signs, and drainage.
• Inspect work by maintenance contractors (mowing, street sweeping, contracts) and update HMMS data daily.
• Complete inspection forms and ensure accurate contract quantities, PO\'s and invoices.
