Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an Inspector to support inspections of encroachment permits, maintenance contracts, and EDM 8 compliance. The role includes performing daytime inspections on primary and secondary routes, and reviewing contractor work related to mowing, street sweeping, and other contracts.

A high school diploma and one year of related experience are required; a valid driver’s license is also necessary.

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with weekly progress and final inspections of permits, maintenance contracts, and EDM 8 compliance.
• Perform daytime inspections on primary (bi-annual) and secondary routes (annual).
• Inspect maintenance contractor work including mowing, street sweeping, and contracts.
• Complete daily diaries and enter data in HMMS; maintain HMMS daily reports.
• Prepare reports, track contracts, POs and invoices; assist during inclement weather and emergencies.
