Job summary

The City of New York is seeking an Area Supervisor (Highway Maintenance) to oversee street and road maintenance operations in Brooklyn. You will supervise Highway Repairers and yard personnel, inspect work sites, enforce safety regulations, and ensure productive progress on projects.

Responsibilities include evaluating staff performance, coordinating with crews, approving timesheets, and providing on-site training as needed to maintain quality and safety standards across a borough-wide program.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time experience in roadway or bridge/tunnel maintenance and repair, including supervisory duties.
• Possession of a NY Class B Commercial Driver License with no restrictions on air brakes.
• Experience supervising highway maintenance crews and yard personnel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee roadways, highways, and related structures maintenance and repair work.
• Inspect work sites, ensure safety regulations are followed, and maintain productivity.
• Evaluate subordinates and ensure fair performance appraisals and timely leave approvals.
• Provide on-the-job training, transfers/reassignments as needed, and coordinate with crews.
