Job summary

State of Oklahoma is seeking a District 7 Heavy Equipment Operator. The position is full-time with regular duties across multiple locations in District 7. Compensation ranges for Level I at $42,600 and Level II at $49,400, with a benefits package and eligibility for retirement plans.

Responsibilities include operating heavy equipment, performing routine maintenance, ensuring road safety, and supporting traffic control and vegetation management along highways.

Qualifications

• Operates power equipment and heavy machinery used in highway maintenance.
• Follows safety procedures and manual labor requirements.
• Communicates and follows instructions to complete tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operates trucks, tractors, road graders, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, backhoes, paint machines, semitrailers and other equipment.
• Performs minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities.
• Repairs failures in roadway shoulders or bridge decks; fixes signs, posts, guardrails and fences.
• Provides traffic control using a stop/slow sign or flag to direct highway traffic.
• Applies herbicide to highway rights-of-way to control weeds; removes debris from roadsides.
