Job summary

Pierce County is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support the Maintenance & Operations Team in the Planning and Public Works Department. You will perform road repairs, vegetation control, culvert work, and debris removal across county roads and facilities in all kinds of weather.

A valid driver’s license and safe driving record are required for daily county vehicle operations. This is a physical role with opportunities for skill and career growth through training and on-the-job development within

Qualifications

  • One or more years of experience performing skilled or semi-skilled labor such as road maintenance, landscaping, or heavy construction.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and a safe driving record is required.
  • Satisfactory physical condition as determined by a County-approved physical examination.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs to roadways, shoulders and related structures; install and remove culverts; clean ditches and debris.
  • Cut brush and vegetation in right of way; assist landscaping and maintenance of planted areas.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and tools; patch and repair guard rails and posts.
  • Flag and control traffic; maintain safe working zones and follow safety protocols.
  • Support snow removal, grading, and other seasonal activities as needed.
