Job summary

City of North Port, Florida is seeking an on-site equipment operator for grounds maintenance and heavy manual labor. You will operate a range of machinery for road, drainage, and swale projects under supervision and assist with traffic control while performing routine upkeep of equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least three years of relevant experience. A Florida CDL Class B is required by the hire date. Emergency response duties may apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Three years of grounds maintenance, construction or heavy manual labor.
• Must possess a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License Class B by date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate primary machinery in road, street, drainage and swale work.
• Operate lawn mowers (40 HP+), tractor-bush hogs, clam trucks, small dump trucks.
• Load and unload materials, supplies and equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance, adjustments and minor repairs on equipment.
• Assist traffic control duties and set up work zones.
• Maintain water control structures and grounds.
• Perform manual labor tasks when not operating equipment.
• Keep records and submit reports on work performed.
