Job summary

Charlotte County is seeking an experienced Equipment Operator to support public works and construction projects. You will safely operate heavy trucks, tractors, and a range of equipment, including dozers, excavators, graders, and loaders, across county sites.

You will perform routine maintenance, set up work zones, assist with loading/unloading materials, and prepare reports while maintaining safety and professionalism in all interactions with staff and the public.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of experience operating equipment in the construction, repair, and/or maintenance of public infrastructure.
• Must maintain a valid “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), including appropriate endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy trucks, tractors and other equipment for public works projects.
• Perform routine maintenance, minor adjustments and clean equipment after use.
• Set up work zones, assist with loading/unloading materials, and keep sites organized.
• Complete daily or weekly activity reports and interact with internal teams and the public.
