Parsons is inviting applications for a Summer 2027 Roadway Engineering Internship in Centreville, Virginia. The program offers direct mentorship with a world-class infrastructure design team and hands-on opportunities to strengthen engineering fundamentals.

You will work on roadway and highway projects, learn to prepare specifications, estimates, and reports, and gain exposure to design reviews while collaborating with experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Completion of coursework in transportation or structural engineering.
• Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field.
• Interest and ability to work on multiple roadway projects simultaneously.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, CAD software (MicroStation preferred), and standard engineering software.

Responsibilities

• Developing creative and innovative solutions for roadway or highway engineering challenges.
• Ensuring designs comply with Federal, State, and local requirements and industry practices.
• Preparing specifications, estimates, quantity calculations, technical reports, and analyses.
• Reviewing supplier drawing submittals and conducting technical bid analyses.
• Preparing and issuing specifications, data sheets, and construction documents.
• Contributing as part of a project team or serving as a design engineer for projects.

Parsons is now accepting applications for our Summer 2027 Roadway Engineering Internship position in Centreville, Virginia!In this program, you will enhance your engineering technical skills and knowledge through direct mentorship and collaboration with a world-class team of infrastructure design experts.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Developing creative and innovative solutions for complex roadway or highway engineering challenges, selecting the most efficient and cost-effective methods to achieve objectives.
• Ensuring designs comply with Federal, State, and local agency requirements, as well as accepted industry practices and procedures.
• Preparing specifications, estimates, quantity calculations, technical reports, and detailed engineering analyses.
• Reviewing supplier drawing submittals and conducting technical bid analyses.
• Preparing and issuing specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
• Contributing as part of a project or organizational team, or serving as a design engineer for intermediate to large-scale projects.

What Required Qualifications You'll Bring:

• Completion of prior coursework in transportation or structural engineering.
• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Interest in and ability to work on multiple roadway and highway projects simultaneously.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office tools, CAD software (MicroStation preferred), and a solid understanding of industry standards and applicable engineering software.

What Desired Qualifications You'll Bring:

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
• Prior internship experience.

Salary Range: $22.93 - $40.14
