Rinker Design Associates, LLC (RDA) in Fredericksburg, VA seeks a Roadway Engineer (Technical Lead) to advance transportation design and grow as a technical leader. You will mentor junior engineers while delivering high-quality plans and calculations for Virginia projects.

The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and strong familiarity with OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation, along with knowledge of VDOT standards. A PE or EIT license is required to obtain PE within a year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field.
• 4–6 years of transportation/roadway engineering experience.
• Virginia PE license or EIT with ability to obtain PE within one year.
• Familiarity with VDOT standards and project delivery processes.
• Experience with OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Interest in mentoring and developing junior staff.

Responsibilities

Rinker Design Associates, LLC (RDA) is seeking a motivated
Roadway Engineer (Technical Lead) to join our growing Transportation team. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys roadway design and is looking to take the next step into technical leadership and mentoring.

You'll have the opportunity to work on impactful transportation projects throughout Virginia while helping develop junior engineers and contributing to the growth of RDA's presence in the region.

What You’ll Do:

• Design transportation infrastructure: Develop roadway designs, plan sets, and supporting documentation for VDOT and local agency projects.
• Deliver quality solutions: Prepare engineering calculations, estimates, and construction documents in accordance with industry standards and client requirements.
• Collaborate across teams: Work closely with engineers, planners, clients, and project stakeholders to deliver successful projects.
• Build your leadership skills: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Expand your impact: Support project delivery activities while growing into increased technical and project responsibilities.
• Support a growing office: Help strengthen RDA's mentoring capacity as the team continues to expand.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
