Job summary

Rinker Design Associates, LLC (RDA) is seeking a Roadway Engineer (Technical Lead) to join our Transportation team in Fredericksburg, VA. This role focuses on leading roadway design and mentoring junior engineers while delivering impactful projects for Virginia clients.

You’ll work with a collaborative group to develop plans, calculations, and documentation, expanding into greater technical and project responsibilities as the team grows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering.
• 4–6 years of transportation/roadway engineering experience.
• Virginia PE license or EIT with ability to obtain PE within one year.
• Familiarity with VDOT standards and project delivery processes.
• Experience with OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation.
• Strong communication and collaboration, mentoring interest.

Responsibilities

• Design roadway infrastructure: develop roadway designs, plan sets, and supporting docs for VDOT/local projects.
• Deliver quality solutions: prepare calculations, estimates, and construction documents per standards.

Rinker Design Associates, LLC (RDA) is seeking a motivated Roadway Engineer (Technical Lead) to join our growing Transportation team. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys roadway design and is looking to take the next step into technical leadership and mentoring.

You'll have the opportunity to work on impactful transportation projects throughout Virginia while helping develop junior engineers and contributing to the growth of RDA's presence in the region.

What You'll Do:

What You'll Need:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
• 4-6 years of transportation engineering, roadway engineering, or related experience.
• Virginia PE license or EIT with the ability to obtain PE licensure within one year.
• Familiarity with VDOT standards and project delivery processes preferred.
• Experience with OpenRoads Designer and/or MicroStation required.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Interest in mentoring and developing junior staff.
