Job summary

Rinker Design Associates, LLC (RDA) in Fredericksburg, VA is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer (Team Lead) to guide a growing team of roadway professionals. You will provide technical oversight on complex transportation projects and mentor engineers while shaping the team's future growth.

Applicants should have 6-10 years of roadway engineering experience and a Virginia PE license (or ability to obtain licensure quickly).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
• 6-10 years of roadway engineering and transportation design experience.
• Virginia PE license required (or ability to obtain Virginia licensure quickly if licensed in another state).
• Strong knowledge of VDOT standards, project delivery processes, and roadway design best practices.
• Experience leading technical design efforts, conducting plan reviews, and performing QA/QC.
• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer and/or MicroStation required.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor staff and provide technical guidance.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with leadership: Partner with project managers, office leadership, and clients to support business objectives and project success.

Description

Rinker Design Associates, LLC (RDA) is seeking an experienced Senior Roadway Engineer (Team Lead) to lead and develop a team of roadway professionals within our growing Fredericksburg, Virginia office.

In this role, you'll provide technical oversight on complex transportation projects while also overseeing staff performance, mentoring engineers, and helping shape the future growth of the team. This position is ideal for a roadway leader who is passionate about both engineering excellence and people development.
