Job summary

Rinker Design Associates, LLC (RDA) is seeking a motivated Roadway Engineer (Technical Lead) to join our Transportation team in Virginia. The role focuses on roadway design, mentoring junior engineers, and leading technical delivery on diverse projects across Virginia.

The ideal candidate has 4–6 years of roadway engineering experience, a Virginia PE or EIT, and proficiency with OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field.
4–6 years of transportation/roadway engineering experience.
Virginia PE license or EIT with ability to obtain PE within one year.
Familiarity with VDOT standards and project delivery processes preferred.
Experience with OpenRoads Designer and/or MicroStation required.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Interest in mentoring and developing junior staff.

Responsibilities

Design transportation infrastructure: develop roadway designs, plan sets, and supporting docs for VDOT/local projects.
Prepare calculations, estimates, and construction documents per industry standards and client needs.
Collaborate across engineers, planners, clients, and stakeholders to deliver projects.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
Grow into increased technical and project responsibilities while supporting office expansion.
