Job summary

Rinker Design Associates, LLC (RDA) in Blacksburg, VA seeks a Roadway Engineer (Technical Lead) to join our Transportation team. Lead roadway design, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with clients and stakeholders on Virginia projects.

You will design infrastructure, prepare calculations and construction documents, and work with teams to deliver high-quality solutions while expanding your leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
• 4-6 years of transportation or roadway engineering experience.
• Virginia PE license or EIT with PE within one year.
• Familiarity with VDOT standards and project delivery processes preferred.
• Experience with OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation required.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design transportation infrastructure: roadway designs, plan sets, and supporting docs for VDOT and local projects.
• Deliver quality solutions: engineering calculations, estimates, and construction documents.
• Collaborate across teams: work with engineers, planners, clients and stakeholders.
• Build leadership: provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Expand impact: support project delivery and grow into increased responsibilities.
• Support a growing office: help strengthen mentoring capacity as the team expands.
