Rinker Design Associates, LLC (RDA) in Fredericksburg, VA seeks a Roadway Engineer (Technical Lead) to advance transportation design and grow as a technical leader. You will mentor junior engineers while delivering high-quality plans and calculations for Virginia projects.

The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and strong familiarity with OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation, along with knowledge of VDOT standards. A PE or EIT license is required to obtain PE within a year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field.
• 4–6 years of transportation/roadway engineering experience.
• Virginia PE license or EIT with ability to obtain PE within one year.
• Familiarity with VDOT standards and project delivery processes.
• Experience with OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Interest in mentoring and developing junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Design roadway designs, plan sets, and documentation for VDOT and local projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, estimates, and construction documents to standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, planners, clients, and stakeholders to deliver projects.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Support project delivery and grow into greater technical responsibilities.
• Help strengthen the office and mentoring capacity as the team expands.
