Job summary

GRAEF, a leading U.S. consulting firm, invites an entry-level Roadway Engineer to join our Transportation team at the Corporate Headquarters in downtown Milwaukee.

This is an ideal role for a recent graduate or early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience in highway, roadway, and local street design that improves mobility and strengthens communities. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Course work or Internship/Co‑op experience related to transportation engineering, highway design, roadway design, or local street design.
• Familiarity with WisDOT design standards is a plus.
• EIT certification preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with civil transportation design software such as Civil 3D or OpenRoads Designer is highly preferred.
• A collaborative mindset, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn in a team‑oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Support project engineering efforts on a variety of transportation, highway and local street design projects.
• Assist with design documentation, technical reports, quantity calculations, and plan preparation for review and quality control.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project teams to deliver work that meets project budgets, schedules, and client expectations.
• Review and check portions of project work under the guidance of experienced engineering staff.
• Participate in professional development opportunities, including involvement in engineering and transportation-related professional organizations.

Roadway Engineer Responsibilities Include

We are considering candidates for our Roadway Engineer position who possess the following minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
