Responsibilities

• Serve in a technical role under the direction of a Project Manager on the engineering development of urban and rural highway/roadway/right of way projects.
• Support roadway designs and plan development in accordance with guidelines, standards, and specifications.
• Oversee the work of CAD Designers, and possibly other EITs.
• Prepare detailed engineering designs for roadway and highway projects.
• Collaborate with Right of Way and preconstruction staff.
• Participate in activities ranging from site feasibility analysis to final design and through the construction phase.
• Assume some project management duties and interact with clients as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting roadway and Right Of Way plans.
• Experience working with TDOT.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
• Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, familiarity and demonstrated experience with Highway and Roads engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d.
• Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field.
