Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Roadway Designer/EIT to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. You will collaborate with project engineers on detailed roadway designs for urban and rural projects, focusing on alignment, drainage and construction estimates.

The role requires a Civil Engineering bachelor's degree and an Engineer in Training certificate. EIT is required for career progression; lacking it may place you in a Design Coordinator track, with progression to EIT.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field.
  • EIT certificate preferred; without it, candidate will be placed into a Design Coordinator role and must obtain EIT for progression.
  • Local candidates preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a team with project engineers on detailed design of urban and rural roadway projects.
  • Take responsibility for alignment and profile, geometrics, drainage, development of plans and construction estimates.
  • Provide assistance with creation and submission of technical reports, specifications and calculations.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Roadway Designer/EIT, we'll count on you to:
  • Work on a team with other project engineers on the detailed design of urban and rural roadway projects
  • Take responsibility for alignment and profile, geometrics, drainage, development of plans and construction estimates
  • Provide assistance with the creation and submission of technical reports, specifications and calculations
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
  • Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, familiarity and demonstrated experience with Highways and Roads engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
  • Local candidates preferred
