Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking a Roadway EIT/Designer in Jackson, Tennessee. The role involves serving in a technical capacity on urban and rural roadway projects while supporting design development and managing other team members. Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and ideally possess an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Serve in a technical role on engineering development of highway projects.
  • Oversee work of CAD Designers and possibly other EITs.
  • Prepare detailed engineering designs for roadway and highway projects.

Skills

Reading and interpreting roadway and Right Of Way plans
Experience working with TDOT
Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
Familiarity with Highways and Roads engineering software

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate

Responsibilities
  • Serve in a technical role under the direction of a Project Manager on the engineering development of urban and rural highway/roadway/right of way projects
  • Support roadway designs and plan development in accordance to guidelines, standards, and specifications
  • Oversee the work of CAD Designers, and possibly other EITs
  • Prepare detailed engineering designs for roadway and highway projects
  • Collaborate with Right of Way and preconstruction staff
  • Participate in activities ranging from site feasibility analysis to final design and through the construction phase
  • Assume some project management duties and interact with clients as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Reading and interpreting roadway and Right Of Way plans
  • Experience working with TDOT
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, familiarity and demonstrated experience with Highways and Roads engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
  • Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field
