Job summary

Alfred Benesch & Company is seeking a Roadway Designer I to join our Civil-Roadway team. You will work on transportation projects with state and local agencies, performing engineering models, analyses, and design calculations, and coordinating drafting for multiple clients.

The role supports design work in our Kansas offices (Kansas City, Wichita, Manhattan, or Topeka) and involves field inspections as needed. A BS in Civil Engineering and CAD tools proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related discipline required.
• E.I.T (or desire to obtain P.E. in the future) preferred.
• Knowledgeable in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office products.
• Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate in a team environment on challenging projects.
• Willingness to be adaptable to office and field inspection tasks.

Responsibilities

• Collect and assimilate data and perform modeling, analysis and/or design calculations of project elements.
• Draw design details under direction of others.
• Compute quantities and demonstrate awareness of relationships to pay items.
• Organize calculations to be included in design files, following project standards.
• Coordinate drafting of an element.
• Perform field or site visits as needed.
• Develop cursory knowledge of applicable codes and standards and use of applicable CADD and Microsoft software.
