Job summary

Benesch is a growing civil engineering and professional services firm seeking a Roadway Designer I to join our Civil-Roadway team. You will work on transportation projects with state and local agencies, performing modeling, design calculations, and coordinating drafting for multiple clients.

You will assist with field or site visits, learn applicable codes and standards, and develop CAD proficiency while contributing to project documentation and timeliness.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or related discipline required.
• EIT (or desire to obtain P.E. in the future) preferred.
• Knowledgeable in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office products.
• Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate in a team environment on challenging projects.
• Willingness to be adaptable to office and field inspection tasks.
• The position may include the need to perform Field Inspection and may require travel to project sites.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written - e-mails, project memos, reports).
• Detailed, and organized individual who thrives in deadline-driven environments.

Responsibilities

• Collect and assimilate data and perform modeling, analysis and/or design calculations.
• Draw design details under direction of others.
• Compute quantities and relate them to pay items.
• Organize calculations to be included in design files per project standards.
• Coordinate drafting of elements and support field visits as needed.
• Develop knowledge of applicable codes and standards and use CAD software.
