Job summary

Benesch is seeking a Roadway Designer I to join our Civil-Roadway team in the Kansas City area. You will perform engineering models, analyses, and designs, and coordinate drafting for various transportation projects with state and local agencies.

The role requires a BS in Civil Engineering, familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation, and strong communication skills. Travel to project sites and field inspections may be required; you will collaborate in a deadline-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required.
• EIT certification or plan to obtain P.E. preferred.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and MS Office.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team on challenging projects.
• Willingness to perform field inspections and travel to project sites.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and deadline-driven.

Responsibilities

• Collect and assimilate data and perform modeling, analysis, and design calculations.
• Draft design details under supervision.
• Compute quantities and link them to pay items.
• Organize calculations for design files per project standards.
• Coordinate drafting of elements with team and clients.
• Conduct field/site visits as needed.
• Develop basic knowledge of applicable codes and standards and CAD tools.
