Job summary

Horrocks in Reno, NV is seeking a Senior Roadway Design Engineer to join our Transportation team. You will design and analyze interstates, freeways, highways, interchanges, and urban/rural roadways, and lead roadway design projects from start to finish.

Candidates should hold a PE license, a bachelor’s in civil engineering, 8–15+ years of roadway experience, and proven ability to manage client relations and cross‑disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Professional Engineering (PE) licensure.
• 8–15+ years of professional experience in roadway design.
• Experience with transportation agencies is highly preferred.
• Strong familiarity with Bentley ProjectWise, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience designing freeways, interchanges, highways, arterials and shared-use paths.
• Knowledge of local, regional, state, and federal design criteria.

Responsibilities

• Design and analysis of interstates, freeways, highways, interchanges and intersections, urban and rural roadways, and trails.
• Prepare clear and accurate studies, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a wide variety of transportation projects.
• Support project managers with client relations, stakeholder management, and sub-consultant coordination.
• Interface with clients including state and local agencies.
• Coordinate and conduct meetings with project stakeholders.
• Lead Roadway Design teams.
• Assist in proposal preparation including oral presentations.
• Coordinate and work within a team of project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to successfully complete a variety of projects.
• Take ownership of projects from start to finish.
