Job summary

Barge Design Solutions, Inc. in Nashville, TN is seeking a Roadway Engineering Associate to contribute to diverse roadway projects and infrastructure design.

You will take ownership of smaller projects under guidance from senior engineers and advance your technical skills within a collaborative team. Qualified candidates hold a Civil Engineering degree, EI/EIT certification, 1–2 years of roadway design experience, and familiarity with ORD software and TDOT/MUTCD guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
• 1–2 years of roadway design experience.
• EI / EIT Certification required.
• Experience using Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) software preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly WORD and EXCEL.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of a variety of roadway project types including urban streets, rural highways, bridge replacements, sidewalks and greenways, interchanges, intersections and roundabouts
• Collaborate with project team members, client representatives, review agencies to resolve issues and develop effective solutions
• Assist in the analysis and preparation of reports, specifications, plans, and permits for projects.
• Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to prepare engineering and design documents/drawings
• Accompany design team on site visits and client meetings as needed.
• Learn and apply TDOT guidelines, policies, and procedures
• Ensure tasks are completed promptly and meet quality expectations
