Job summary

VIAS Infrastructure, PLLC in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer to join our team. You will develop roadway designs for transportation projects, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of roadway/transportation design experience.
• Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer (ORD) required.
• Experience with NCDOT projects and design standards.
• Familiarity with AASHTO guidelines and roadway geometry.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• PE license preferred or active licensure.

Responsibilities

• Create roadway design plans, profiles, cross-sections, and construction documents.
• Perform horizontal/vertical alignment, superelevation, and grading with ORD.
• Coordinate with utilities, drainage, and structural disciplines.
• Prepare and review design calculations, quantities, and cost estimates.
• Ensure compliance with design standards and project policies.
• Collaborate with PMs, clients, and agencies on deliverables and schedules.
• Assist permits, right-of-way documents, and technical specs.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled Roadway Design Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop roadway design plans, profiles, cross-sections, and construction documents for transportation and multi-modal projects
• Perform horizontal and vertical alignment design, superelevation, and grading using OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
• Coordinate with utility, drainage, and structural disciplines throughout project development
• Prepare and review design calculations, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates
• Ensure compliance with state and/or municipal design standards, policies, and project-specific requirements
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and agency stakeholders on project deliverables and schedules
• Assist in preparation of permits, right-of-way documents, and technical specifications

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• Minimum 2 years of experience in roadway/transportation design
• Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer (ORD) is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or active pursuit of licensure
• Experience working directly on state-funded and municipal transportation projects
• Knowledge of drainage design and utility coordination as it relates to roadway projects
• Familiarity with MicroStation and other Bentley design tools
