Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. seeks a Roadway Design Engineer based in Portland or Bend, OR. You will lead teams on major transportation projects, applying roadway design expertise and coordinating with Portland and WSDOT staff to craft innovative, safe solutions.

You’ll be empowered to deliver bold design concepts, manage technical documentation, and uphold quality standards across multi-disciplinary projects. A PE license and strong MicroStation/OpenRoads skills are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in transportation work with emphasis on roadway/highway and geometrics final design and/or Maintenance of Traffic and Traffic Control final design.
• Professional Engineering license required.
• Experience with MicroStation/Inroads and Openroads is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams on larger roadway design projects.
• Collaborate with Portland and WSDOT Olympic Region offices to solve complex problems.
• Apply functional knowledge and methodologies to deliver innovative solutions.
• Serve as a best-practice/quality resource for the team.

Based in Portland or Bend, OR, you’ll work on exciting and engaging projects and utilize your highway/roadway design expertise. Using your experience, you’ll lead teams on our larger projects. You will work directly with the Portland and WSDOT Olympic Region offices and their transportation team to solve complex problems; take a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions; identify applications of functional knowledge and existing methodologies to complex problems. We want you to be empowered to deliver the boldest solutions for everyday living leading functional teams or projects and serve as a best practice/quality resource.

Here’s what you’ll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in transportation work with an emphasis on roadway/highway and geometrics final design and/or Maintenance of Traffic and Traffic Control final design
• Professional Engineering license
• MicroStation/Inroads and Openroads background
• Experience with plans preparation, specifications, estimates and design documentation

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• Experience with multi‑discipline infrastructure engineering design and construction projects
• Previous WA or OR Department of Transportation experience

The base salary range for this position is $7,500.00 to $150,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
