Job summary

Jacobs in Atlanta, Georgia seeks a Highway Design Engineer to join a collaborative team delivering roadway and transportation projects across the region. You will contribute to planning, design, and delivery of highway projects and build solutions that support client goals and improve everyday life.

Ideal candidates have a Civil Engineering degree, an EIT or PE path, 3+ years of experience, and proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • 3+ years of professional engineering experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience using engineering and design software to support transportation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of highway and roadway projects from concept through final design
  • Prepare engineering calculations, analyses, plans, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Develop roadway geometry, alignments, profiles, cross sections, and related design elements
  • Utilize industry-standard design software to create and update engineering deliverables
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality transportation solutions
  • Assist with project scheduling, technical reviews, and quality assurance activities
  • Support client service efforts through responsive communication and technical contributions
  • Apply applicable engineering standards, design criteria, and regulatory requirements throughout project delivery

As a Highway Design Engineer in Atlanta, Georgia, you'll be part of a collaborative team delivering impactful roadway and transportation projects across the region.

In this role, you'll contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of highway projects, helping develop solutions that support our clients' goals and improve the everyday lives of the people who rely on this infrastructure. You'll work alongside experienced engineers, project managers, and technical specialists while continuing to grow your design expertise and professional career.

What You'll Do

Here's what you'll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 1 year
  • 3+ years of professional engineering experience
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Experience using engineering and design software to support transportation projects
Ideally, you'll have
  • Previous highway or roadway design experience
  • Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, or similar transportation design software
  • Familiarity with state DOT design standards and transportation project delivery processes
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary transportation infrastructure projects
  • Progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure

This is a hybrid role. Ideally, you will work at a local Jacobs office on average 2 days per week. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

The base salary range for this position is $69,500.00 to $83,500.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
