Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Roadway/Site Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in Idaho Falls to support planning, design and delivery of roadway and site development projects. You will grow technical and professional skills under licensed Professional Engineers.

The role resides in the Community Infrastructure team and requires a Civil Engineering degree with EIT or ability to obtain, plus 2–4 years of roadway/transport design experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • EIT certification or ability to obtain within defined timeframe.
  • 2–4 years civil engineering experience focused on roadway/transport design.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D; Bluebeam and MS Office preferred.
  • Familiarity with roadway geometry, drainage design, and utility coordination.
  • Ability to follow design standards, specs and agency requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to grow technically.
  • Team player with positive interprofessional relationships.
  • Experience with municipal or state transportation projects preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of roadway design plans, profiles, and cross sections using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Support design tasks related to grading, drainage, utilities, water, and sewer systems.
  • Prepare calculations, quantities, and exhibits in support of design development.
  • Assist with the development of technical memoranda, design plans, specifications, and reports.
  • Support permitting and agency coordination efforts in various jurisdictions.
  • Contribute to engineer’s opinions of probable cost and quantity takeoffs at various project stages.
  • Perform quality control checks on plans and documents under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
  • Coordinate with project team members across multiple disciplines.
  • Participate in client meetings, internal coordination meetings, and project reviews as appropriate.
  • Provide construction support services, including responding to RFIs and assisting with construction observation tasks.
