Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for a Construction Inspector in Columbia, MD. You will provide inspection services for transportation projects, ensuring work and materials comply with plans and specifications, while performing measurements and calculations as needed.

The ideal candidate will hold at least two applicable certifications and an Associate Degree in Construction Management or related field.

Qualifications

• Two applicable certifications required.
• Associate Degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
• SHA Yellow Card certification preferred.
• MARTCP certification preferred.
• Roadway construction experience a plus.
• Experience reading engineering plans required.
• Experience reading and understanding technical reports required.

Responsibilities

• Provide inspection services for transportation construction projects.
• Ensure all work and materials comply with proposals, plans and specifications.
• Perform calculations, take measurements and verify weights/volumes as needed.
• Plot and run cross sections and prepare as-builts during project progress.
• Perform materials testing.
• Document inspected work daily.

Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for highly motivated construction inspectors for projects in Columbia, MD.

A Construction Inspector will be responsible for providing inspection services for transportation construction projects. They ensure all work and materials used are in compliance with the proposal, plans, and specifications. They may perform required calculations, take measurements, and verify weights and volumes as needed. They may plot and run cross sections and prepare "as builds" during progress of the project. They may perform materials testing. They will document inspected work daily.

This position requires heavy lifting, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis, and ability to perform work independently. Travel to construction sites throughout the state is an essential function of this position; a valid driver’s license is required. Extended hours and overnight stays may be required.

The successful candidate will hold at least two applicable certifications, and one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Construction Management or related field is preferred.

Hourly Rate Range: $24.50 to $30.00 – Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
