Job summary

Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated construction inspector for WVDOH projects in North Central West Virginia. The role focuses on providing inspection services for transportation construction projects and ensuring materials and work meet contract requirements.

The inspector will document daily inspections, perform measurements and calculations, and may perform materials testing. Travel across West Virginia is required; a valid driver’s license is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field and four years of relevant experience or
• Associate’s Degree in Construction Management or related field and six years of relevant experience or
• Eight years of relevant experience if no degree

Responsibilities

• Provide inspection services for transportation construction projects.
• Ensure work and materials comply with proposal, plans and specifications.
• Perform calculations, take measurements, and verify weights/volumes as needed.
• Plot and run cross sections and prepare as-built documents during progress of the project.
• Perform materials testing and document inspected work daily.

Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for highly motivated construction inspector for WVDOH projects in North Central West Virginia.

An Experienced Construction Inspector will be responsible for providing inspection services for transportation construction projects. They ensure all work and materials used are in compliance with the proposal, plans, and specifications. They may perform required calculations, take measurements, and verify weights and volumes as needed. They may plot and run cross sections and prepare \"as builds\" during progress of the project. They may perform materials testing. They will document inspected work daily.

This position requires heavy lifting, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis, and ability to perform work independently. Travel to construction sites throughout the state is an essential function of this position; a valid driver’s license is required. Extended hours and overnight stays may be required.

The successful candidate will hold at least four applicable certifications, and one of the following:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field AND four (4) years relevant experience

OR

• An Associate’s Degree in Construction Management or related field AND six (6) years of relevant experience

OR

• If no degree, at least eight (8) years of relevant experience

Ideal Candidates Will Have Any/all Of The Following

• WVDOH construction inspection and materials testing certifications Working knowledge of WVDOH standards, specifications, and material testing procedures

• Working knowledge of AASHTOWare Project
