Mead & Hunt, Inc. is seeking an Experienced Construction Inspector for projects in Columbia, MD.

The role focuses on inspection services to ensure compliance with proposals, plans, and specifications on transportation construction projects. The ideal candidate will have certifications such as IMSA I Signal Inspector, ACI, MARTCP, Temporary Traffic Control Manager, E&SC, and SHA Yellow Card, plus an associate degree with four years of relevant experience or eight years without a degree.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and technical reports
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the state

Responsibilities

• Provide inspection services for transportation construction projects and ensure compliance with plans and specifications
• Perform calculations, take measurements, and verify weights/volumes as needed
• Plot cross sections and prepare as-built documentation during project progress
• Perform materials testing and document inspected work daily

Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for highly motivated construction inspectors for projects in Columbia, MD.

An Experienced Construction Inspector will be responsible for providing inspection services for transportation construction projects. They ensure all work and materials used are in compliance with the proposal, plans, and specifications. They may perform required calculations, take measurements, and verify weights and volumes as needed. They may plot and run cross sections and prepare "as built" during progress of the project. They may perform materials testing. They will document inspected work daily.

This position requires heavy lifting, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis, and ability to perform work independently. Travel to construction sites throughout the state is an essential function of this position; a valid driver's license is required. Extended hours and overnight stays may be required.

Successful candidates will hold at least four applicable certifications

IMSA I Signal Inspector Certification, ACI, MARTCP, Temporary Traffic Control Manager, E&SC, SHA Yellow Card

• An associate degree in construction management or related field plus four years' relevant experience OR No degree with at least eight years' relevant experience.

Ideal candidates will have any/all of the following:

• Roadway Construction experience
• Experience reading engineering plans
• Experience reading and understanding technical reports

Hourly Rate Range: $39.90 to $45.00 - Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
