Job summary

Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for an Experienced Construction Inspector for projects in Columbia, MD. The role involves delivering inspection services for transportation construction, ensuring work and materials meet proposal, plans and specs.

Successful candidates will hold at least four certifications and may have an associate degree with four years of relevant experience, or eight years with no degree. Travel and outdoor work are required.

Qualifications

• Successful candidates will hold at least four applicable certifications (IMSA I Signal Inspector Certification, ACI, MARTCP, Temporary Traffic Control Manager, E&SC, SHA Yellow Card).
• An associate degree in construction management or related field plus four years’ relevant experience OR no degree with at least eight years’ relevant experience.
• Ideal candidates will have roadway construction experience, experience reading engineering plans, and experience reading and understanding technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Provide inspection services for transportation construction projects.
• Ensure work and materials comply with proposals, plans and specs.
• Perform calculations, take measurements, verify weights and volumes as needed.
• Plot and run cross sections and prepare as-built documents during progress.
• Perform materials testing and document inspected work daily.
• Travel to construction sites statewide; heavy lifting and outdoor work required.
• Extend hours and overnight stays as needed.

Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for highly motivated construction inspectors for projects in Columbia, MD.

An Experienced Construction Inspector will be responsible for providing inspection services for transportation construction projects. They ensure all work and materials used are in compliance with the proposal, plans, and specifications. They may perform required calculations, take measurements, and verify weights and volumes as needed. They may plot and run cross sections and prepare \"as built\" during progress of the project. They may perform materials testing. They will document inspected work daily.

This position requires heavy lifting, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis, and ability to perform work independently. Travel to construction sites throughout the state is an essential function of this position; a valid driver’s license is required. Extended hours and overnight stays may be required.

Hourly Rate Range: $39.90 to $45.00 – Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
