Job summary

Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for highly motivated construction inspectors for projects in Columbia, MD. The Construction Inspector will provide inspection services for transportation construction projects and ensure materials meet plans and specifications, with daily documentation of inspected work.

Travel across the state, heavy lifting, and outside work are expected. A valid driver’s license is required; extended hours and overnight stays may be necessary.

Qualifications

• Two applicable certifications required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field or an Associate’s Degree plus two years of relevant experience; or, if no degree, at least four years of relevant experience.
• SHA Yellow Card certification and MARTCP certification are preferred.

• Provide inspection services for transportation construction projects.
• Ensure all work and materials comply with proposal, plans and specifications.
• Perform calculations, take measurements, verify weights and volumes as needed.

Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for highly motivated construction inspectors for projects in Columbia, MD.

A Construction Inspector will be responsible for providing inspection services for transportation construction projects. They ensure all work and materials used are in compliance with the proposal, plans, and specifications. They may perform required calculations, take measurements, and verify weights and volumes as needed. They may plot and run cross sections and prepare "as builds" during progress of the project. They may perform materials testing. They will document inspected work daily.

This position requires heavy lifting, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis, and ability to perform work independently. Travel to construction sites throughout the state is an essential function of this position; a valid driver’s license is required. Extended hours and overnight stays may be required.

The successful candidate will hold at least two applicable certifications, and one of the following:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field
• -OR- An Associate’s Degree in Construction Management or related field AND two (2) years of relevant experience
• -OR- If no degree, at least four (4) years of relevant experience

The Ideal Candidate Will Have Any/all Of The Following

• Associate’s Degree in related field preferred
• SHA Yellow Card certification
• MARTCP certification
• Roadway Construction experience
• Experience reading engineering plans
• Experience reading and understanding technical reports

Hourly Rate Range: $30.00 to $35.00 - Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
