Job summary

GAI Consultants Inc. is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors to support PennDOT, PA Turnpike and municipalities across Western Pennsylvania. The role covers on-site inspection, documentation, and daily reporting for roadway, highway and bridge projects.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, strong communication and math skills, and the ability to work with contractors and engineers on active construction sites. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Some college/associate or bachelor’s in civil engineering or construction management preferred.
• Basic math for length, area, volume calculations.
• Strong communication and time-management skills.
• Ability to use iPad and apps for documentation.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.
• Willingness to obtain relevant industry certifications.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, inspect and document daily on-site construction activities.
• Ensure compliance with contract documents and local codes by contractor.
• Consult with contractors, engineers, and job superintendents on plans, specs, materials and safety.
• Prepare and maintain daily inspection reports, photos, discrepancies and corrective actions.
• Check shop drawings and contractor quotations for variations.
• Maintain records of quantities and materials used.
• Monitor erosion and stormwater BMPs and controls.
• Prepare payment claims and recommended payments.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Attend site meetings.
