Job summary

Quality Engineering Solutions, Inc. (QES) seeks transportation construction inspectors at all levels to join our team in Pennsylvania. Inspectors monitor roadway, highway and bridge projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specs and safety standards.

The role requires reading blueprints, performing QC tests on soils, concrete and asphalt, and documenting daily progress. Prior PennDOT experience is preferred; multiple certifications are desirable.

Qualifications

• Two years of transportation construction inspection experience and a high school diploma.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, measure quantities, and perform quality control testing on highway materials.
• Associate Degree in Engineering may substitute for one year of experience.
• Experience on PennDOT or Pennsylvania projects preferred.
• Active engagement with multiple perspectives when solving problems and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical inspections to ensure contractors build to plans and specifications.
• Monitor quality assurance for materials testing (soils, concrete, aggregates, bituminous products).
• Comply with overtime requirements for PA Turnpike, PennDOT, and clients.
• Meet with project engineers or managers to receive instructions and assignments.
• Complete project documentation: daily reports, cost estimates, activity logs.
• Maintain records of labor, materials, quantities, and equipment used.
• Ensure erosion and sedimentation controls compliance and permit adherence.
• Seek guidance from supervisor as needed for inspections and quality control.
