The State of Vermont Agency of Transportation is hiring a Transportation Operations Technician I. This entry-level role performs highway maintenance tasks such as repairing guardrails, cutting trees and brush, patching roads, and litter patrols.

Qualifications

• No formal education or experience is required.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for the successful completion of original probation.
• An incumbent must complete VTTC coursework within six months or be enrolled.

Responsibilities

• Repair guardrails and patch roads as part of highway maintenance.
• Cut trees and brush and pick up roadside litter.
• Ditch and maintain roadside drainage features.
• Winter duties include plowing and salting when needed, with potential overtime.
