Job summary

King County Road Services Division seeks two Crew Chief to lead day-to-day activities of a construction or maintenance crew in unincorporated King County. Successful candidates will guide field operations, schedule work, and ensure safety and compliance with environmental standards as part of a broader transportation division.

Applicants should have experience planning, coordinating multiple crews, and communicating effectively with internal teams and partner agencies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of experience in the maintenance, construction, repair, or operation of roadway infrastructure.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse crew while promoting inclusiveness.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures (OSHA/WISHA) and environmental standards.
  • Experience reading construction plans, maps, GIS data, and blueprints.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and cost estimation for road projects.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, schedule, and lead crew work activities and project timelines.
  • Monitor onsite work, provide direction, and adjust methods as conditions change.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental requirements.
  • Coordinate maintenance with WLRD and other partners and manage resources.
  • Read and interpret plans and use City Works, GIS, and estimation tools.
  • Prepare and track labor, equipment, and material costs.
  • Respond to emergencies and maintenance requests promptly.
