Job summary

Bay County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a full-time Laborer/Helper to support the Bay County Road System. You will participate in maintenance and repair, assist in project planning, and perform pipe laying, bridge repairs, and equipment operation.

Responsibilities include working in trenches, managing ditches, and operating pumps and generators. A high school diploma and 4 years of construction experience are required; a Florida driver license is needed on offer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 4 years of experience in construction, maintenance and repair.
• Able to operate MS Word, Excel and Outlook; proficient with data bases.

Responsibilities

• Participates in maintenance and repair of the Bay County Road System.
• Assists supervisor in planning and lay-out of projects.
• Assists in cleaning ditches and controlling growth of weeds in drainage areas.
• Works in trenches or excavations, often with water.
• Performs pipe-laying, bridge repairs, asphalt and cement duties.
• Oversees pipe laying, bridge repairs, and asphalt and cement duties.
• Operates various vehicles, trucks or tractors.
• Operates light construction equipment; sets up pumps, compressors and generators.
• Makes inspections and keeps basic records; assists with level work and setting grades.
