Job summary

City of Lancaster, Texas is seeking a grounds maintenance worker to clean and maintain municipal roads and rights‑of‑way. Under supervision, you will perform code compliance inspection duties and assist in general maintenance tasks across city routes.

The role involves driving, litter removal, and interaction with residents to address concerns. A valid CDL Class A license and a GED or high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid State Class A CDL driver's license; driving is required for the role.
• Experience with grounds maintenance and litter removal is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Walks and/or drives to assigned route to pick up litter and debris.
• Maintains the City right‑of‑way by removing litter and illegally dumped items.
• Regularly monitors areas known for illegal dumping.
• Drives truck and trailer to transport illegal dumping and equipment to sites.
• Removes debris caused by extreme weather conditions.
• Appropriately disposes of litter and debris.
• Interacts with citizens and employees regarding problems/concerns and reports feedback to supervisor.
• Performs additional general maintenance or grounds keeping activities as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
• Performs a variety of code compliance inspections including residential, commercial and industrial property and drives to and from destinations assigned by supervisor.
• Removes illegal signs.
