Job summary

Cameron County is seeking a Groundskeeper to perform maintenance of grounds around bridges and facilities. Duties include trimming, mowing, cleaning, and operating small landscaping equipment; maintain records and assist with building interiors when needed.

Requires high school diploma or GED, 1 year landscape/grounds maintenance experience, and a valid Texas driver's license. Position includes benefits and a six-month probationary period, with drug and alcohol evaluation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 1 year of landscape/grounds maintenance experience preferred.
• Must have valid Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, trims and cuts grassy areas, hedges, palms and trees; keeps sidewalks and curbs clean of debris.
• Trims trees and greenery; paint parking blocks and lines.
• Waters and fertilizes lawn areas; operates small landscaping equipment and mowers.
• Keeps grounds and parking areas free of trash; cleans grounds as needed.
• Handles power tools; maintains tools and equipment; may operate heavy equipment occasionally.
• Provides information to employees and external parties; serves as liaison with vendors and other departments.
