Job summary

City of Lancaster is seeking a CDL-B qualified equipment operator for the Streets and Water T&D divisions. The role involves operating dump trucks, snow plows, trailers, and associated equipment to support street construction, water, and sewer maintenance.

Responsibilities include manual labor, equipment operation in all weather, and adherence to safety practices. Applicants must meet PA CDL requirements and be able to obtain necessary endorsements within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or completion of a GED is required.
• Knowledge of safe practices related to Public Works.
• Proficient use of hand tools is required.
• Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English is required.

Responsibilities

• Follows safe practices in the performance of duties.
• Drives a dump truck to haul construction materials and supplies for street construction, water and sewer installation, and repair of various other public works projects.
• Operates a truck mounted snowplow and drives a dump truck with a trailer.
• Experience in maneuvering, connecting, and disconnecting trailers, leaf-pickers, vacuum trailers, and other attached or towable equipment.
• Performs manual labor involving loading and unloading trucks, digging of ditches, felling and trimming of trees, cutting brush, and similar tasks.
• Operates a rubber tire loader in general maintenance work and snow removal operations.
• Drives tractors for cutting grass.
• Uses a jackhammer and other power-driven equipment.
