Job summary

West Virginia University is seeking a Maintenance Worker II for the Roads & Grounds department to perform skilled landscape maintenance, operate heavy equipment, and assist in constructing and repairing landscape features.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and related vocational/technical training.
• At least 1 year experience operating grounds maintenance equipment.
• Experience in commercial landscaping and masonry/concrete work.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including payloaders, backhoes, rollers, and skid loaders.
• Assist in construction and maintenance of landscape structures with concrete, brick, stone, and pavers.
• Apply sealers and finishes; perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Plant trees and shrubs; fertilize and maintain lawns and soils.
• Remove snow using trucks, tractors and power tools; follow blueprints and safety procedures.
• Maintain maintenance records for trucks and grounds equipment.

Education

High School diploma or GED

Vocational/technical training in landscape management

Experience in masonry or concrete work
