Job summary

MoDOT’s Lathrop, MO location is hiring for a maintenance worker to perform routine, entry-level duties under direct supervision and contribute to the upkeep of Missouri’s roadways and facilities.

The role is part of a CAREER-LADDER program, with clear opportunities for advancement from entry to intermediate or senior levels. Initial salary is posted, with intermediate and senior levels listed, plus an emergency wage adjustment during winter operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET is required.
• Valid Driver's License is required.
• Must pass CDL written exam before hire; tanker endorsement, no air brake restrictions (Class B) and interstate status within 60 days.
• Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Maintain state highway systems, fill joints/cracks, patch potholes, flag traffic, set up signs and traffic control devices.
• Maintain, clean, repair state highway facilities, signs, guardrails, curbs, gutters, and equipment.
• Operate vehicles to transport people, equipment, machinery and/or materials, or to warn oncoming traffic, plow snow and spread ice control materials; mow rights of way and operate various heavy equipment.
• May repair bridge decks and drains, and clean bridge bents/caps at heights on ladders or scaffolding.
• May install signs and repair sign posts; weld and maintain break away and overlay signs.
