Job summary

Beaufort County is seeking a dedicated groundskeeper and custodian to perform groundskeeping and basic custodial tasks in designated areas. The role involves daily maintenance, cleaning, and responding to safety-related issues to maintain an environmentally safe and clean environment.

You will operate lawn and maintenance equipment, assist with setup for meetings, and report maintenance needs to the supervisor. A valid driver’s license and HS diploma are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School diploma or GED.
• Requires a short demonstration up to and including one month of related experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Assist in property maintenance by removing roadside trash and illegal dump sites.
• Transports litter to landfills and recyclables to facilities.
• Performs basic lawn care and landscaping tasks; trims trees and hedges.
• Performs custodial tasks, e.g., cleaning waste receptacles, washing windows, dusting furniture, cleaning vents and walls.
• Responds to emergencies to confine, resolve or prevent hazardous conditions.
• Cleans equipment and maintains storage areas.
